J. Edward Lanthier, OLS was my first employer on graduating from high school. He was a good, understanding, patient and supportive leader. As an early mentor and teacher, he had much to do with lanching my engineering career. I will remeber him greatfully and fondly.
My thoughts and prayer are with his Family.

"My condolences to you Robert and Debbie, and your families, from the "Northern?"branch of the Lanthier clan up here in Cochrane. Although the realities of time and the demands of our work and family, have meant that we have not been able to keep in touch with Uncle Edward as much as we would have liked in recent years, I still have great memories of your Dad and Mom back in the "North Cobalt" days as a kid. Uncle Edward and Aunt Isobel were always reliably present and accounted-for at the great gathering of all the aunts and uncles and many offspring at the Lanthier homestead. Uncle Edward's energy and drive always impressed me and he was the "neat" uncle that did so many different things. He was the guy that taught me how to downhill ski at the tiny Haileybury Ski club and the first person that I ever heard play a fiddle "live and in person"? As I grew older I think I then began to appreciate the true gentleman that Uncle Edward was, and the fine qualities of his nature that we don't really notice when we?re kids -- his quiet disposition, wit, sensitivity, intelligence and friendly character. (Qualities, I think, that all of the Lanthier brothers and sisters seem to possess in different ways.). I knew him as an uncle, and can only imagine what a terrific grandpa and great-grandpa he was! Sorry we could not be there in person. On behalf of Kathy and myself, and Louise and Randall, our thoughts go out to you and we hope everyone remains safe and happy in the days and weeks ahead.

On behalf of the Niagara Old Tyme Fiddlers, we will sure miss Ed. He loved the music and would travelled many miles to see a fiddle contest and jam with friends.
I'm sure that tunes will be played in his memory this week.
