show off his many Elvis moves. At one of these many parties, I was late (having been held up at work) and upon my arrival Ken yells ?hey Steve?s here? and before I knew what was going on I had been picked up and thrown into the swimming pool. What Ken was unaware of, was that I had just been paid and I had $1000.00 in cash in my pocket that was now as soaking wet as everything else. Not to worry he laughed and took to hanging my money on the clothes line and the party continued. At the end of the night, Ken reminded me to go collect my money, it was all still there. A testament to not only the quality and ethics of Ken and Iris, but also the people they surrounded themselves with.
We also spent many good times at their cottage, working a little and laughing a lot. Like the time we had to rescue Iris from the ?Killer? chipmunk that was on the deck. A scene from the stooges show.
I see this world a little darker now that this great mans bright light has gone out too many years too soon.
Ken was a man?s man, his hand shake meant something, it was his bond, he was honest, generous and kind spirited. What you saw was what you got. Respect, a laugh and a cold beer.
I will sadly miss you my friend my brother but know for a fact that you will always be in my heart and never be forgotten.

I first met Ken when we were partnered at the railway to repair freight cars. We instantly got along finding out that we shared a love of muscle cars, repairing things and both suffered with a warped sense of humour. For just over two years, it didn?t feel like work, it was more like two 15-year-old kids away at summer camp. The jobs got done and the time just flew by. On one instance, we were straightening a steel ladder on the side of a box car, I warmed up the damaged section with the torch and Ken was to tap it back into shape with his sledgehammer. He completely missed the ladder and hit my hardhat knocking it off my head. We both looked at each other and then started laughing hysterically, tears running down our faces. Yes, never a dull moment with Ken.
Ken loved cars, a wide assortment of muscle cars as well as import vehicles. Truly ahead of his time. He often spoke of his Chevelle and how he hoped to one day get another one. He was always working on his cars and I remember going to his house and he had purchased from the dealer a ?KIT? to fix a sporadic misfire he had been chasing. We opened this very professional looking box from the dealer and inside was what looked like a rubber glove with the finger tips cut off (to go over the distributor), a handful of tie wraps and instructions to spray the ignition wires with silicone spray or hair spray after installing the glove. What should have taken us ? an hour to do, took more than an hour with our joking around and comments regarding the repairing of an American muscle car verses a Japanese daily driver.
Ken was always on the go and a hard worker, I recall working along side of him updating his friends mini golf, several trips to Montreal to do research and purchase equipment for the restaurant we would eventually open, and helping anyone who asked for his help, friends and family included, all done with a smile on his face.
Ken loved to play and entertain just as hard. Ken and Iris hosted amazing backyard pool parties in the summer that allowed Ken to sh
