Dear Mr. Mindorff,
It is more than shocking to find you memorium and your pass on The Read after a random search on the school website. Just not long ago your name has always been raised in my family' conversations that we have all remembered how your education and your kindness had taught me through a life long lesson on my first week landed in Canada in 2004. I was a high school freshman first time studied over broad and you were the leading instructor for our summer orientation program. Your kindness and wisdom have enlightened me and had widened my horizen more than any other times and educations that I have received for the past 20 years cross several countries. You had taught me the equality of life and respect that all himan kind are entitled to have and how the kindness is the long lasting virtue that accompanies us to go long way. Thank you for the deepest of my heart and you will be forever missed and I am honored to call you my teacher of life.

Dear Michele,
Late as I am in writing this, I want you to know how deeply saddened I was to hear of David's death. My daughters, Rachel and Fiona, are also shocked and mourn his loss. He taught both of them and was Fiona's advisor for two years at Branksome. An avid inquirer, he opened up a dimension of learning in students that they had not known before and made biology a place where they could think creatively and expansively on the one hand and learn precision and discernment on the other. And of course, his consistently gentle touch, optimism and insistence on their capacity to learn affected them permanently.
For me, as his colleague, I found his calm adherence to principle a tremendous gift. Her argued quietly and forcefully for change that would benefit students first - never wavered on that. He brought logic and incisiveness to decision-making. And he poked fun when we all got a little too wrapped up in administrivia, bringing us back to our higher purpose.
I know that you and the boys were his greatest joy. I hope that the obviously strong bond you have will help you along through the darkness of these days.
May he rest in peace.

We haven’t known David or the Mindorff family for long, but their kindness and generous spirit welcomed us to the Lyford Cay school and Bahamian community. It was easy to become fast friends.
We will forever remember David for his quiet sense of humour, and the warm, kind, intelligent, thoughtful man that he was. His love for his community, the environment and his profession were abundant. His love for family was limitless.
Our heartfelt condolences to the Mindorff family

To Michele, your sons, and all in the extended Mindorff family: I share in your pain and sorrow over the loss of such a fine man, David. It was a deep shock to me to learn of his untimely death, so sudden, and it caused me to think back over fond memories of my time spent in Budapest with you, Michele, and David alongside you. The year was 1993 and a couple of us travelled by boat down the Danube from Vienna to spend a couple of days in that city -- and you certainly showed us around marvellously (I've had occasion to return there twice since, but it being my first trip I will always remember your kindness). David accomplished so much in his life and was such a well-rounded (and grounded) individual. Just knowing about his most recent accomplishments (doctorate, another book) makes this loss even more devastating. I extend prayerful sentiments to one and all, and I certainly will be including David in my personal prayers as well as this parish's. Peace be with you, (Fr.) Peter T. Rowe (St. Vincent de Paul, Niagara-on-the-Lake)

I just heard the terrible news of David's passing. We worked together on a few IB publications. He was such a talented writer, a deep thinker and had such a dry sense of humour, it was a pleasure to know him and to collaborate with such an intelligent and thoughful person. He talked so lovingly about his family and their place in Fort Erie. With deep condolences...

My heart felt condolences go out to David’s family. I had the great fortune to be teaching at Branksome Hall when David joined our staff. In my 26 years of working in education, I met no one who surpassed David in his combination of intelligence, grace, humility and kindness. What a devastating loss for the education community and most importantly, for his family. May his soul rest in peace. Debra Mustos

David will be missed by both Veronica and myself. He inspired us to move all the way from Malaysia to the Bahamas. His vision for LCIS was unwavering and he did everything in his power to follow through on that vision. We believed in him and hope that his vision will continue onwards at the school. Both he and Michèle did everything they could to make new teachers feel welcomed into the community. This is because of their kind hearts and focus on people first within the school system. It's still a shock that he is gone, but we want to keep his memory alive by continuing to work towards his vision day in and day out. It was a pleasure getting to know him both as a person and as a colleague. Rest Well David.

Dear Nicholas, Michael, Benjamin and Jonathan,
Your dad is integrity, and purposeful about it, and you have that too. Please stay healthy and safe and be the integrity he and your mom gave you and nurtured you with. You are explorers and open to adventure and likely ready for most of life’s wrinkles and joys, and so please enjoy both and be you.
These ideas are born from your dad’s view of the world, one he expressed eloquently and gently and with the firm piercing delivery only he could summon, as if wisdom and caring itself had surrounded you. This is your teenage father’s opus, one of faith, hope and love, all for you. Yes, on our 1984 pre-uni find-yourself bike tour, we spoke of integrity. Nerds, yes but all very earnest about it. Please please be safe and healthy and enjoy being his sons, being your best you. It’s his greatest gift and joy.
Michèle,
I miss him too, although haven’t really taken it in yet. I’m so thankful for you both for letting me hang and go on dates with you two and for not just pretending to read books and write
In journals but to take the time and reflect and do and live. Thanks to you both for showing me how small the world is, and how wonderful it is to explore. Thanks for always showing me what home feels like and for being part of mine, whatever the geographic distance.
To my Mindorff family,
I am so grateful for you accepting me as your 12th child, son and brother, and for showing me patience and love and gentle. I’m still striving to be that, and so thank you. You helped me see and feel what a big brother, loving partner and dad could be,
To David’s global family of learners, colleagues, friends,
You are blessed. Please live and love as he’s shown us all.
David,
Thanks for being the man I strive to be.
All my love,
Matthew

But it so good that he made meaningful memories that we will always cherish in our hearts. May you rest in peace.

I was very fortunate to work with David in the Branksome Hall Science department. When I first met David, I sensed a thoughtful, compassionate and generous personality as well as a great intelligence. He gave much to the school, but what stood out was the total devotion to the betterment of his students. He left us far too young, but he will live for a long time in the hearts of all of his colleagues, his students, the IB community, but most of all in the hearts and souls of his family.
Rest in peace, David.
