To the Marino family, well, what can one ever say. My condolences, of course.
Joe and Pat, and Dave Nash are my oldest friends, dating back to our band days in high school. I think it was around 1964 or so when Joe and Pat approached me during public ice skating, asking me if I'd like to join their band, which I did. And then we brought Dave in. We had so many good times. And even in more recent years when I would visit Fort Erie, we would get together and jam. I think the first time we jammed was 40 years after I'd left the band. I think it was Pat that said it was like we had just played together last week.
I added these two photos because Joe was not only a great guitar player, but he was the lead singer of our band, and our keyboard player. We were just glad that he switched from accordion to organ. A very accomplished musician.
Like all of us, Joe had his successes and his losses. But he was always a classy guy. We have shared so many conversations and emails, laughs and sorrows over the years. Besides music, he was all about his family. He never tired of talking about them. To the family, I am so sorry for your loss.
I will miss you buddy. You'll be in my heart and thoughts forever.
Your brother in music and friendship, always Joe...

Joe Marino
In the fall of ‘93, My family and I were living in the apartment above Joe Marino’s house. He was a relatively quiet and respectful man. I do recall his strange tradition he had. He would go for a daily jog, running until his legs were tired on a regular basis. But unlike most people that would celebrate finishing there jogs with a healthy protein shake or fruit smoothie, Joe was a true original that stood out from the rest of the fitness crowd. He wouldn’t pick up a blender to make a smoothie...oh no sir. His after jog ritual was to pick up....an accordion.
That’s right, everyday at approximately 6pm my mom, my brothers and myself were treated to a daily accordion serenade from the apartment below. We began to look forward to it. It was a truly unique tradition Joe had, and we loved him for it.
My fondest memory of Joe was on super bowl 28. The Bills were playing the cowboys for the second year in a row. I had some friends over and we were devoted members of Billsmafia and no self-respecting billsmafia member could watch a game without a mountain of food in front of them. Unfortunately my friends and I were broke freshmen in high school with no way to pay for any snacks. I then recalled a scam I seen my older brothers run successfully. How it worked was you would order a medium pizza to the house next door and a party tray and 50 wings to a house a few blocks down from you. This would gaurantee a party tray and 50 wings was waiting in the delivery car as you watched your neighbor be confused with the delivery driver, giving you enough time to hop in the backseat and steal the halftime special.
Well our neighbors weren’t home that night, but Joe was....and as expected the driver showed up with his unordered pie and Joe gave this poor driver a lecture on how he would never order this crappy hot wheel of garbage and I believe he called the restaurant owners Mangiacakes that wouldn’t know a good pie from a hole in the ground.
As Joe was lecturing the poor driver, I seen him see me out of the corner of his eye stealing the pizza out of the backseat. Being the cool guy he was, he continued distracting the driver and gave me a wink. I knew it was smooth sailing after that.
10 minutes later Joe came upstairs and grabbed a slice, talked about how the bills sucked ass and retreated back downstairs to finish some work. He told me he respected my ingenuity, but don’t include him on any scams again without his knowledge. Shook my hand, grabbed a couple wings and wished me a good night. I’ll always remember Joe in this way. A man that loved seeing opportunists take what they want out of life. I continued to see this same attitude in his sons as we grew up together and it ended up with a mutual respect. My favourite characteristic of Joe that I had, was he never turned down an opportunity, and these lessons stuck with me through adulthood. Much love and respect Joe. You can finally rest good sir. Thanks for the pie and the accordion. Dave Vitali

Laurie and I were deeply saddened to hear of our dear friend Joe’s passing. I will truly miss my brother in music. Thank you Joe for all the times you spent with me and the band through the years, teaching us all to play it the best we could. Even in our later years you were truly our leader when we had fun learning our songs again down in my music room.
Our condolences to all of your family, I am going to miss you brother and your amazing love of music. Rock on Joe.
Love.

Our sincerest and deepest condolences to the Marino family. Knew Joseph from a long time ago, his son Greg did some electrical work for us and have known his brother Pat for a good many years. May our Lord Jesus give you all peace and understanding and may He comfort you all in this sad time.
