Winston Alvin Woehl
August 4, 1944 – January 10, 2022
With profound sadness we mourn the passing of Winston Woehl at Douglas Memorial Hospital on January 10, 2022, at 77 years of age, peacefully and surrounded by his family.
Cherished husband of 53 years to Gail, loving father to Doug (Rayanne) and Judy (Dave), and adored grandfather to Jamie, Aaron, and MacKenzie.
Predeceased by his parents Walter and Leota, and his brother Grant (Ann).
Winston will be fondly remembered by his brothers George (Diane) and Roger (Janice) his sister in law Joy (Al) Belanger as well as many nieces and nephews.
Winston was a dedicated man to his family, friends, and community. He was an inspirational leader and mentor to many.
He worked for Bell Canada for 34 years as a repair technician until his retirement.
He was a member of Fort Erie #3 Fire Department for 41 years, serving as their Fire Chief for 10 years as well as several other officer positions.
He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and served on their council and the building committee.
He served as Chairman of the Board for the Fort Erie Lions Senior Centre, and president of Club 96ers euchre club.
Winston enjoyed his annual NASCAR trips with his son Doug, camping with his grandkids and friends, playing cards at the Senior Centre, and family gatherings.
For 25 years, Winston received excellent care from Dr. Laurence Klotz at Sunnybrook North York site. The family is grateful for the exceptional care provided by Dr. Scher, ParaMed nurses, especially Elizabeth, and the dedicated, compassionate nurses at Douglas Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
Benner Funeral Services 1105 Benner Ave. Fort Erie entrusted with arrangements. The family will receive friends on Sunday January 16 from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11 am. . Current Covid 19 regulations require individuals to wear masks, social distance and to schedule a time for arrival for visiting and to reserve a space for the funeral service. Times will be available on the hour and half hour during visitation periods to allow for proper sanitation and avoid over crowding.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to Trinity Lutheran Church, Douglas Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, or a charity of your choice.
