My deepest condolences to Jean's family. I had the pleasure of working for many years with Jean in my role as Bruce County Children's Services Manager. Jean made my job much easier especially when new and exciting initiatives were implemented in our community. Jean's enthusiasm was contagious in her involvement with the Wiarton Nursery School, the Brighter Futures and the Early Years Programs. I am forever grateful to Jean, for the caring and loving support she gave to the many children and families in her various Early Learning and Child Care roles. The success of these programs is a direct reflection of Jean's ability to connect with people, young and old and let them know they are all important. Thank you Jean for your many years of being an amazing Early Childhood Educator, advocate, mentor, colleague and friend. You will be deeply missed.

Harry,Tara & Tracey:
It is with great sadness that I learned of Jean's passing. As a student in Wiarton, I remember her as a strong, kind & gentle person that was giving and supportive to all of those who were fortunate enough to have their lives touched by her. I remember very well coach, how she supported not only you but our entire basketball team while being an awesome mom to 2 beautiful young girls. She was a lady that set an example of what human kindness could achieve and while she may not have realized, made a lasting positive impression on so many of us during our impressionable years .I hope the knowledge that her life & support for her family & Harry's coaching, helped mold so many of us can bring your families comfort in this very difficult time.
My deepest condolences for your loss.
Sincerely
Rod Matthews

My thoughts are with all of Jean’s family , she was one of the most kind and amazing people are I have ever met . It’s so humbling to know that she made such an impression on all my children ( we met Jean when they were newborn to 5 years old and they are now 17 to 24 )and when I mention Jean from play group they all know exactly who I’m talking about, you will be deeply missed by everyone that ever met you . Heaven has gained a wonderful angel.

Mr. Baker, Tara, Tracey and families,
33 years ago I walked into the Wiarton Nursery School with my twin sister Jenna in hand. Who better to greet you on your first day of nursery school than Mrs. Baker. She was one of the most kind, caring, and compassionate educators I have ever met. She was a cornerstone in early childhood education in Wiarton and selflessly championed many initiatives and projects in the community. Her legacy will live on in the lives & hearts of all who knew her. God Bless

Mr. Baker, Tara, Tracey & Families,
Similar to so many children in Wiarton, my first experience with education started with “Mrs. Baker” and the Wiarton Nursery School. As I grew older, any of my interactions with Jean were always so pleasant and positive. Her kindness and steadfast commitment to Early Childhood Education has undoubtedly left a legacy in Bruce County. Wishing family and friends continued strength in the days.
Sincerely,
Jenna Malhotra (Urbshott)

I am so sorry to hear that Jean has passed away. I remember her warm and caring presence at nursery school in Wiarton; she made the space welcoming for me as a nervous little kid taking my first steps into the wider world. What a gift for so many children to have begun their education with such a special person guiding the way. Sending my deepest condolences to Harry, Tracey, and Tara, family and friends.

Dear Harry, Tara and Tracey,
It is with great sadness that my family has learned of Jean’s passing. She was a strong proponent of early childhood education and such a caring person to so many young eager and energetic minds in the Wiarton area including one of mine. Jean was also so supportive of all her family especially to Coach Baker to allow them to pursue their own passions and their pursuits. I know many student athletes at WDHS including myself are so grateful for time he was able spend with us all the while knowing Jean was tending the home front. Thinking of all of you at this time.
Sincerely,
Todd Hay and family

Deepest Heartfelt Sympathy to all of Jean's family. She was such a beautiful lady. We often recalled childhood memories with Neil. We both lived at Ridgeway and then our lives intertwined a second time as we lived in Wiarton at the same time where Jean taught preschool. She was so fondly thought of for her wonderful work with young children. Her and Harry would have early morning walks along Georgian Bay with their dog and would always greet us with a huge smile and friendly chat.
Our lives intertwined a third time as we all retired and returned to our hometown of Fort Erie and Ridgeway.
Jean was always so nice when we would call on her and Harry to come downtown for coffee.
May Jean Rest in God's Peace.
