Bill, John Renee, Teresa, Lauren, William IV, Connor, Sarah, and Nicole - Debbie and I, Miller and Maitland extend our deepest personal condolences on the passing of Bill and Joan. We hope that during this difficult time and the time that follows, you will share the warmest memories, swap stories and celebrate the impact they both had. We placed a story about Joan on her page.
Bill may have had a gruff exterior but he had a heart of gold. He was generous, wise, thoughtful and loyal. You knew that if Bill Brunt was in your corner, the odds were strong you would come out ahead.
Bill helped keep the Niagara South PCs alive through a string of losses. Ray Haggerty had our number winning the seat for the Liberals since 1967. When Ray retired, the seat went orange under Bob Rae in 1990. Bill’s ability to squeeze a penny until it turned into a dime and his fundraising had kept the riding association in good financial shape. We were able to string a number of wins in a row beginning in 1995 for the Blue Team because Bill ensured we had the financial resources to do what needed to be done.
He came about this honestly - his father Senator William Brunt was a chief fundraiser, confidant and advisor to Prime Minister John Diefenbaker
Bill also led the lawn sign crew, did the office set up and fixed everything included old equipment that looked like it had lost all hope.
He was also a trusted advisor - both in politics and in life. He conveyed almost as much with his eyes and his facial expression as he did with words. Although when he took you aside for a quiet one on one chat, you knew it was serious. And you knew he was right
He treated Debbie and I, Miller and Maitland like family, doting on the girls.
Bill was strong, candid, and had a great grasp of the big picture.
He was a man of character and strong moral fibre.
I don’t know if they make them like Bill Brunt anymore. We sure hope they do. We need more like him
We can only imagine the depths of his loss.
Our deepest condolences,
Debbie, Miller, Maitland and Tim Hudak

To the entire Brunt family I wish to convey my deepest and most sincere condolences. I have known Mr. Brunt almost my entire life. He was an extremely large part of my early years. He always spoke to me with care and always showed sincere interest in my life. Even when we hadn't been in contact for quite some time he always seem to have an idea what I was doing professionally and would ask with great interest how things were progressing. Mr. B cared deeply for his family and was always there to support them. This generous, interesting and engaging man will be deeply missed by all that knew him well.
With much love,
David, Jayne, Jack and Grace Healy

My deepest sympathies extended to the Brunt family. We enjoyed many lively political debates with Bill and Joan over the years. No doubt, their endless civic volunteer efforts impacted the local political landscape for decades. We will very much miss his sharp wit and his stern, but friendly, way to imparting his views and insights on a wide range of topics. In sympathy, Carrie Kormos and Derek Tupling

Please accept our sincere condolences for the passing of Bill. Susan and I always enjoyed Bill’s company. His enthusiasm was always contagious. I can recall assisting Bill to take the PSC committee boat to Don Woods storage barn on Point Abino road. At the time Bill was driving a 1960’s blue chevy van. Bill decide to show me one of his favourite roads in Fort Erie. It was Ridge Road north a winding up and down type of road. With glee, Bill became a F1 driver with tires screaming enjoying ever twist and turn of this road. I really enjoyed the ride back to the club and every time I have an opportunity to drive the road I do and remember my experience that day with Bill fondly. Susan and Dave Sommerville

I've known Bill for 65 years, since I was 12 years old. I consider him the brother that I never had. Doreen and I were very honored when he agreed to be "Best Man" at our wedding and he did "get me to the church on time". We very much enjoyed our yearly outing to the Vintage Racing Festival and many other racing jaunts we attended and will miss his company. One of the best friends you could wish for. RIP Bill.
