John Albert Hudak

 

November 4, 1926 – January 29, 2024

 

It is with humble respect that the Hudak Family focuses on the death of John Albert Hudak. He was predeceased by his parents, John Hudak Sr. and mother, Susan Gernat, brothers: Michael, Joseph, Patrick, and sister, Mary. He is survived by his sister-in-law Anne Marie of Fort Erie, nephew, David Hudak of Richmond Hill and other numerous nieces and nephews.

 

John was born in Circ, Czechoslovakia on November 4, 1926. He and his sister Mary accompanied their mother and travelled by boat to Halifax in 1928 to be reunited with his father who had worked in Canada for two years to fund their excursion from Europe.

 

John enlisted in the armed forces at 18 and served 25 years retiring as a Master Sergeant. His career focused on Radio Wireless Operator. His assignments took him to various locations: Hamilton, Toronto, Ottawa, and Oshawa. In 1959 he was educated in the Russian language so that he was fluent in conversing, reading, speaking, and writing in Russian. Armed with these experiences, John was sent to Washington, DC to work cooperatively with the US Army Intelligence Department. In 1961 John was assigned to Alert, a remote Army station on Ellesmere Island in northern Canada. He worked with British and American Intelligence services, landing finally to Germany. He finished his career at the National Headquarters of Military Intelligence in Ottawa. He received an Honourable Discharge from the army as Master Warrant Officer. He returned to Sarnia, worked as a security guard, and cared for his parents and extended Family members.

 

John was an active person in life, playing Badminton, softball, and golf. After his stroke in 1989 John completed a rehabilitation project of exercising daily with long walks. He enjoyed watching sports on TV.

 

Cremation has taken place. Benner Funeral Services entrusted with arrangements. Burial will be at a later date in Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, Sarnia, Ontario in the Family plot. No Church service is scheduled.
