Obituary of Bernard Steele

Steele : Bernard "Bernie" Surrounded by love, Bernie passed at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on July 24th, 2019 at the age of 93. Loving husband of Barbara. Sadly missed by children Alan (Lynne), Ginger (Louis) Steenkamp, Connie Couling, Kevin (Pat), Michele McKenna and Joanne (Patrick) Maloney. He leaves his 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren with limericks and memories to share and laugh about. One of five children, he is survived by Verla Cowal and Charles Steele and predeceased by Arthur and Francis as well as sons in law Bill McKenna and John Barnhart. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bernie served in the Army and was a veteran of WWII. Active in his community, he proudly served with the Fort Erie Volunteer Firefighters for 33 years in an active capacity and 36 years exempt. He will be fondly remembered by the members of St. Paul's Anglican Church where he was a long-time member. Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Ave, Fort Erie entrusted with arrangements. The family will receive friends on Sunday July 28th from 4-8 pm. Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church on Monday at 11 am. If so desired, donations to St. Paul's Building Fund or the Central Ave. Firefighters Association would be appreciated by the family.
