Obituary of Robert (Rob) Atkin

ATKIN, Robert - It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Robert (Rob) James Atkin at the age of 65, on December 23, 2018. Adoring husband to Shelley Atkin, devoted father to Chelsey (Glenn), Cody (Devereaux), Julie. Proud Papa / Grandpa to Kayne, Marley, Braden. Cherished son to Betty Atkin (Harry), loved son-in-law to Barbara Abrams, brother-in-law to Rick (Angela), Matthew (Karin), and brother to Tom (Darlene). Loved by his nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held January 3, 2019, 12pm - 4pm at Benners Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Avenue Fort Erie. All invited to join the family for a Celebration of Life at 4:30pm following the visitation at the Royal Canadian Legion, 130 Garrison Road, Fort Erie. Rob was an arborist for the Niagara Parks Commission for 36 years. He was President of OPSEU Local 217 for 13 years. Rob retired at 54 to take care of his park he named Atkin Acres. He loved nature, wildlife and everything outdoors, especially his trees. His 2 favorite being his Oak Tree and Red Maple his little girl Chelsey planted for him. Donation in lieu of flowers to the ALS Society of Canada or plant a tree in memory of Rob, somewhere you love to be.
