Obituary of Chi-Shing Chow

Chi-Shing Chow Chi-Shing Chow, 80, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on April 3, 2016 in Fort Erie, Ontario after a long struggle with Parkinson's. He is survived by his loving wife Phyllis, son Samuel. Loving brother of the late Alice Yau (the late Stephen), Lillian Yik (Yik Foon), and Catherine Chau (the late Siu Lun) of Hong Kong, Grace Chow (Chee Woo) of San Diego, Lawrence Chow (Susan), Phoebus Chow (Stella), and Raymond Chow (Benita) of Hong Kong. He will be missed by several uncles, his many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. He was born on April 11, 1935 in Shun-Tak廣東順德, China. He graduated in the first graduating class from Hong Kong Baptist College in 1960. He came to Canada in March 1968, arriving in Toronto. He moved to and settled in Fort Erie with his wife and son in September 1968. Trained in the family business in Hong Kong as a jeweler, diamond setter, goldsmith, jewelry designer and gemologist, he started his own jewelry business in Fort Erie in 1973, retiring in 1999 at the age of 64, in order to spend more time with his ailing mother in Hong Kong. Chi-Shing loved to play baseball, sing hymns, eat well, travel and spend time with his family and friends. Chi-Shing was also an avid cruiser after his retirement, visiting many places and ports of call. He accepted Christ as his personal Saviour at the age of 21 after listening to Billy Graham speak in Hong Kong in 1956. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Erie since September 1968, and was involved in the youth group activities and church choir. He also became involved over the years with other churches, notably the St. Catharines Chinese Alliance Church, the Niagara Region Christian Community Church, and the Buffalo Chinese Christian Church, to name just a few. Chi-Shing had a heart for Christian missions and financially supported the efforts and work of Far East Broadcasting Canada遠東廣播, His Foundation (HK) 天鄰,Ambassadors for Christ in Canada使者協會, Chinese Christian Mission of Canada中信, Fountainhead Christian Charitable Association思源, and Metro Chinese Christian Mission. Friends will be welcomed at First Baptist Church (Bertie and Central) Fort Erie from 5 pm until 7 pm on Friday April 8th. A Funeral will take place at 7 pm. Cremation will follow.
