Obituary of Gar Davidson

Davidson: Garfield Ione "Gar” Suddenly at his residence on March 21st, 2011 in his 92nd, year. Beloved husband of Shirley for 68 years. Devoted father of Suzanne (David) Eng and Sandra (Terry Ackroyd) Slofstra. Proud grandfather of Samantha and Michael Slofstra, Bryan, Stephen and Michelle Eng. Also survived by many nieces and nephews including Pearl McKay and Garrett Reid. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters. Gar was the owner of D&W Upholstery for over 50 years. He served in Europe during WWII with the RCAF and was a proud member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 230 and a dedicated and Life Member of Palmer Masonic Lodge 372 A.F & A.M. Gar was a well known sports enthusiast and a member of the Fort Erie Sports Wall of Fame. Gar coached many female softball teams, taking teams to a National Championship and Pan American Games. Benner Funeral Services 1105 Benner Ave Fort Erie entrusted with arrangements. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 - 9 pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Benner Chapel on Thursday morning at 11 o’clock. Donations to the Douglas Memorial Hospital Palliative Care would be appreciated by the family. Br. 230 Royal Canadian Legion will hold services in the Funeral Home on Wednesday at 6 pm followed by Palmer Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. at 6:15.
