Obituary of Sally Kowalski

Kowalski, Sally Ann (nee Maurier) Surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer, Sally passed away at the Douglas Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit on Wednesday January 26th, 2011. She was the loving wife of 31 years to Fred. Proud mother of Linda (Jim Randall) Saari of Niagara Falls, Terry (Margaret) Runka of St. Catharines, Kathy (Len) Wall, and Karen (Lenny DeHaven) Audet all of Fort Erie. Stepmother of Stanley (Kim) Kowalski of Niagara Falls New York and Michael Kowalski of Florida. She will be sadly missed by grandchildren Michael (Kristen) Saari, Scott (Sarah) Saari, Adam and Andrew Runka, Terry Jr., Desiree and Shannon Runka, Brandon, Michael and Steven Kowalski and great grandmother of Tayin Reid Saari and Connor Gunn Saari. She was predeceased by her parents Frederick and Ursula Maurier and brother Leonard Maurier. Sally enjoyed her job at RBC for 32 years. She was a community minded citizen and dedicated volunteer having served as a Girl Guide leader, Douglas Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Catholic Women’s League, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Meals on Wheels, Big Brothers/Sisters, St. Michael’s Children’s Liturgy Group, a member of the Zonta Club, Fort Erie Horticultural Society and Red Hat Society. Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Ave., Fort Erie entrusted with arrangements. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 & 6-9. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday at 10 am. Interment to follow in Greenwood. If so desired, donations to Palliative Care or The St Vincent de Paul Society would be appreciated by the family.
