Passed away peacefully at the Port Colborne General Hospital on Wednesday August 18th, 2010 in his 92nd year, in the company of family.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years Lidia. He will be greatly missed by his children Maria (Angelo) Aliberti, Carmine (Connie) and his five granddaughters Rosalynn, LeeAnn (Jeff), Jennifer, Jessica, Michelle and new great granddaughter Ellie.
Predeceased by his son Frank he will be sadly missed by many friends and extended family members both here and in Italy. Michele was born in Poggiomarino, Naples Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1953. He worked for many years at CN Rail before retiring in 1983. He loved bocce, bowling and most of all playing cards. He was known as a joker, a story teller and with a glass of wine in his hand, had a toast for every occasion. He will be remembered as a man who loved his family, his friends and his garden.
The family would like to thank the Palliative Care and Nursing staff at Port Colborne General Hospital.
BENNER FUNERAL SERVICES 1105 Benner Ave, Fort Erie entrusted with the arrangements. The family will receive friends on Saturday August 21st, from 6-9pm and on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Vigil Prayers will be offered in the Funeral Home Sunday at 3:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St Michael’s Roman Catholic Church on Monday at 11am. Interment to follow at St Joseph’s Cemetery Fort Erie.
If so desired donations made to the Port Colborne General Hospital Foundation, the Douglas Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Juravinski Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.
