Betty Hebbourn
September 18, 1927 - November 21, 2018
After a brief illness, Betty passed away peacefully at Douglas Memorial Hospital in Fort Erie in her 92nd year, surrounded by her family.
Born in St. Catharines, Betty was active in the Cub Scouts, where she met her husband Tom Hebbourn and moved to Fort Erie after their marriage in 1949. Betty worked for many years at the Ontario Jockey Club, and then as a bookkeeper at Glenny Insurance. After Betty retired, she remained active in the community and was an avid volunteer at Gilmore Lodge retirement residence. She adored children and cherished any time she could spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her children Kathy Hebbourn, Linda (Chris) Agnew, Michael (Cheryl) Hebbourn, and daughter-in-law Cathy (Tom) Hebbourn, her seven grandchildren: Stephen (Kristine) Hebbourn, Jill Hebbourn (Shawn Gies), David (Tricia) Agnew, Heather (Michael) Colquhoun, Brittney, Michael and Connor Hebbourn and her six great- grandchildren: Kassidy, Bethany, Katelyn, Liam, Claire and Isla. Also survived by her sister-in-law Shirley (Jack) O'Connell and many nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her parents, Stella (Hills) and John O'Connell, her loving husband Tom Hebbourn and their son Tom, brother Jack O'Connell and grand-daughter Kimberley.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at St. John's Anglican Church, 2251 Ridgemount Rd., Fort Erie, ON beginning at 11am. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and interment will be at the St. John's Anglican Church cemetery following the memorial service. Light refreshments will be offered afterwards in the church hall.
