Bruce Moore

Obituary of Bruce Robert Moore

MOORE, Bruce (b. April 2, 1949) On Monday January 13th 2014 Bruce left to fly with the angels, surrounded by loved ones at the age of 64. Loving husband and best friend of Debbie (nee Harlow), the love of his life for almost 44 years. Cherished father of Tiffany Moore (Dave) and Destiny Moore (Chris) and Hannah Neufeld (Dave). Proud grandfather of Eloise, Hazel, Solomon, Corine and Logan. Bruce is sadly missed by his sisters Candace and Elizabeth (Larry) and his brother Donald. Bruce will always be remembered by the members of the Harlow Family brothers in law Jim (Lynn) and Brian (Lynn) along with his nieces, nephews and many many friends. Predeceased by his parents Bob and Elaine and his brother John. Born in Sherbrooke Quebec, Bruce grew up in Thetford Mines. He spent his early school years in California, before settling in Fort Erie, Ontario where he found the love of his life and lovingly raised his family. Strong values, integrity, loyalty and courage came through in how he cared for his family, interacted with colleagues at work, managed his political career, as well took up responsibility towards his community or those in need. A true gentleman, words don't begin to capture what an amazing family man Bruce was, with a huge love, devotion and self-less commitment towards his family - what a wonderful life we all had together. Sensitive and caring with the heart of an Irish poet, he would go to any length for his family, including his last demonstration of tremendous strength and courage in his struggle to wait for organ transplant, to be able to enjoy his family growing older. Bruce was a man of action, exhibiting leadership from a young age. Already in high school he was president of his fraternity Gamma Sigma, and at work he rose from the shop floor to a senior manager at John Deere Welland Works where he was proud to work for 40 years. He was also member and past president of the Fort Erie Kinsmen, and served the town of Fort Erie for three terms as a Councillor from 1985 - 1995. Humility and an open and welcoming spirit balanced fierce determination and persistence. He was curious, thoughtful, and inspired others with his continuous desire to learn. Those closest to Bruce remember him as a larger-than-life character with a huge heart. When it comes to fun, Bruce 'did it up brown'. Embodying a great passion for life, he was fun-loving with an impish joie de vivre. Playful and full of humour, he lived life to the fullest. Bruce enjoyed wilderness, nature, adventure, and was proud to have travelled Hawaii, Indonesia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East with his family, as well as extensive travel around North America on his Harley Davidson or in a canoe in British Colombia, Algonquin Park, and the Nahanni River. In his own words, "I ain't been cheated baby, I ain't been cheated". The family would like to express deepest gratitude for all those who attempted to facilitate organ donation, as well as the amazing care provided by the Toronto General Hospital transplant team and ICU, Dr. Marco Puglia, and Dr. R.J. Kamatovic. Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Ave., Fort Erie is entrusted with the arrangements. The family will receive friends and on Friday January 17th from 1-3 pm and 6-9 pm and again on Saturday from 10 am until the time of the funeral in the Benner Funeral Chapel at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to either the Trillium Gift of Life or Medecins sans Frontieres/Doctors without Borders.
