GALLAUGHER, Brent Alexander
It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely death of Brent Gallaugher on March 23, 2017.
Brent was born in 1949 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and lived throughout Canada and Europe, eventually settling in Fort Erie, Ontario.
Brent began his career as a Customs Broker in Manitoba and Saskatchewan before he accepted a position with Revenue Canada Customs and Excise (Canada Customs). His career with Canada Customs spanned 24 years, during which time he held such positions as Inspector, Superintendent, Manager of Drug Intelligence, and, finally, Manager of the Rainbow and Whirlpool Rapids Bridges. In 1997, Brent left Canada Customs to accept a position with the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission as Chief of Operations. After 2001, Brent was appointed to the position of Agency Relations & Security Manager where he was responsible for facilitating communication between the border enforcement agencies of Canada and the United States and for implementing security measures for all of the Bridge Commission's facilities, including the Rainbow, Whirlpool Rapids, and Lewiston-Queenston Bridges. In 2014, Brent retired from a successful career.
Outside of work, Brent had many interests and passions. He was a loyal fan of the Montreal Canadiens. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Bridgewater Country Club in Fort Erie, Ontario. He also enjoyed playing many PGA Tour courses, including his favourites Pebble Beach Golf Links and Torrey Pines in California.
A devoted husband who wholeheartedly embraced family life, Brent is survived by his loving wife Teresa (nee Borghese), his stepsons John (Joanna) and Mark (Lindsay), and his beloved grandchildren Kate, Maddie, and Oliver. Brent's family and many friends will greatly miss him and always remember his conviviality, his youthful exuberance, and his generosity of spirit.
Brent was predeceased by his father Alexander Gallaugher and his mother Stella Gallaugher (nee Winzinowich).
