Obituary of Joseph Albert Gobel

Born in Hungary on January 18th, 1926 Joseph passed away while surrounded by his loving family at the Douglas Memorial Hospital on August 5th, 2012. Predeceased by his wife Patricia Gobel. Cherished father of Catherine (the late John) Fraser of Sherkston, Patrick (Cheryl) of Port Colborne , and Margaret (Norm) Sisler of Fort Erie. Devoted Papa to C.J. (Christina), Chad (Christine), Luke and Jesse Fraser, Ashley (Brian) Gobel, Briar (Mark) Gobel, Allison (Charlie) Koscak and Matthew (Katya) Sisler and Big Papa to his 7 great grandchildren. Also survived by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Joe served with the R.C.A.F. during WW II as an air gunner and was retired from Canada Customs as a Superintendent in the Long Room. He was a member of Palmer Masonic Lodge #372, Royal Canadian Legion Br #71, the Fort Erie Lions Club having just received the International Certificate of Appreciation for fulfilling the Mission of Lions Club and was actively involved with Fort Erie Air Cadet Squadron #337. Benner Funeral Services 1105 Benner Ave. Fort Erie entrusted with arrangements. Private Interment service will be held at McAffee Cemetery. Friends & family are invited to attend a service to celebrate Joe’s life on August 27th, at 11 am at the Falls View Brethren in Christ Church (Drummond and McLeod) Niagara Falls. If so desired, donations to the McMaster Children’s Hospital, Fort Erie Air Cadets #337 Squadron or Falls View Church Homes for Haiti would be appreciated by the family.
