Obituary of Laura Ellen Brownson

Laura Ellen Brownson, nee Caskey (August 23, 1917 - March 8, 2015) Passed away on Sunday March 8, 2015 at Maple Park Lodge, Fort Erie, ON. She was born in Nakomis, Saskatchewan on August 23, 1917 to parents Lee and Helen (Hughes) Caskey. Left to cherish her memory are her three children Doug, Carol and Cathy; eight grandchildren Stephanie, Virginia, Charmaine, Sarah, Jennifer, Matthew, Laura, and Christopher, as well as 8 great grandchildren. Predeceased by Burt, her husband of 55 years in 2001 and her great granddaughter Brittany in 2008. The oldest of 11 children, she is survived by her sister Beatrice and brothers Glenn and Lorne (predeceased by Irene, Ruby, Molly, Bill, Alberta, Lee and Clark). She was very proud of her prairie roots, growing up in the small town of Raymore, Saskatchewan. During the Depression she left school and went to work in the restaurant of the Raymore Hotel. During World War II she accompanied her sister Ruby to Ajax, Ontario to work in the munitions factory. She met her husband and they were married in May 1945. They relocated to London, Ontario where they raised their family. She cared for her husband after he suffered a series of strokes and later moved to the Niagara Peninsula after his passing. She was known for her wonderful home cooking and her specialty, apple pie. She loved to play games, especially bingo. We miss you Mom! A memorial service and celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. Interment will be at the O'Hara Cemetary in Madoc, Ontario next to her husband.
