Obituary of Gary Wayne Bateman

BATEMAN, Gary Wayne- It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gary (Champ) Bateman in his 63rd year, on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in Fort Erie, Ontario. Predeceased by his parents Gertrude and Hubert Bateman, mother-in-law Audrey Shavalier and brother-in-law, Patrick (Chevy) Shavalier. Loving husband of 39 years to Jinny (nee-Shavalier) Bateman, cherished father of Pamela (Jon) Bateman, Krystal (Kyle Earle) Bateman and "Grampy" of Keira Earle. Gary also leaves behind brothers, Jimmy, Donny and Huey (Lynn) Bateman as well as his loving adoptive family, Barb (Chuck) Kenyeres, Susan, Cindy, Laurie and Joe. Gary will be sadly missed by his father-in-law Patrick Shavalier, brother-in-law Rusty Shavalier, his wife, Marlyne and goddaughter, Ashley Shavalier; sister-in-law April Shavalier, her son Patrick Shavalier as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, best friends Bill and Wanda Lear, his many camping friends, neighbors, wonderful drinking buddies and cherished dogs, Max and Dublin. Gary recently retired from CP Rail after 40 years of service. A celebration of Gary's life will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall (upstairs) 6101 North St., Niagara Falls on Saturday, March 24th at 1 p.m. Interment to take place at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be may to the Cancer Society.
