While we knew her time was short, we were nevertheless saddened to hear of Aunt Mary's passing. The "ole gal" as she liked to call herself lived to a grand old age but to those of us who loved and cherished her she will be missed dearly. To Eileen, Ron, Walter, Lynda and Fairleigh our thoughts and prayers are with you. We wish we could be there as you celebrate her life and mourn her passing.

What a gem Aunt Mary was. She was one of God's great gifts to humanity. The love & hospitality I felt in her presence was beyond compare. She was so fortunate to have you all close to her. All the best to you all in the coming days & weeks as you adjust.

Though the distance has been great and the visits too few, Aunt Mary has always been a significant influence and inspiration! I know her Newfoundland roots have remained very steadfast throughout her life and her Newfoundland family has loved her dearly. I cherish the times that we were the audience for her stories; like when Dad Patten got the first car in Fortune and her and Aunt Effie had to push the car out of the mud wearing their Sunday best! She giggled so much telling that one that she could bearly get the words out. And then, there was her apple pie served with the words 'Apple pie without the cheese is like a hug without the squeeze.' My girls and I have been blessed to have such a dear, sweet Great Aunt & Great, Great Aunt. Our love and prayers to her family.

I am so going to miss Mary. She always made me smile when I was down, laugh when I was sad and cry when she said the funniest things to me...Over the years that she came to Maple I have thought of Mary as part of my family. I am glad I met this amazing woman and her family. Thankyou for allowing me to be me with your mom...I loved her dearly and will always cherish the time we had together...
