Wallis Sinclair

Obituary of Wallis Arlene Sinclair

Wallis Sinclair/Wright

June 17, 1939 – November 22, 2024

Wallis was an exceptional mother, predeceased by her son Grant Caverly and survived by her daughter Tracy Caverly (Jodi Reichel), her brother Rick Sharp (Marjorie), three grandchildren and several great grandchildren.  She is also predeceased by Brian Sinclair with whom she shared a 15 year marriage of fun, friends and golden retrievers.

Wallis modelled independence, strength and unconditional love.  Her closest friends came to cherish these qualities as Wallis was always there to help folks through some of their toughest moments.  Wallis had a contagious laughter and a wonderful sense of humour!  You might not know what she was laughing at but within minutes you would be laughing right along with her!

Wallis was a brilliant trail blazer.  In school she skipped two grades, received monetary awards for her outstanding academic achievement and at the early age of 16 was chosen, graduating top of her class, to be local lawyer Al Mac Bain’s legal assistant.  From there she went on to manage several Niagara Falls law firms, eventually retiring from the position of Executive Director of the Electrical and Mechanical Contractors of Niagara.

During the 1970s Wallis was a very active member of Kinettes in Niagara Falls.  She enjoyed the fundraising and support the group provided for the community and the camaraderie of the members.  Many lifetime friendships came from those early days.

Wallis welcomed challenges and was always looking to learn new things.  Having received a perfect mark in her first computer course at Niagara College, she was brought back to teach the same course.  She was a natural gardener and a self-taught artist that included painting, quilting, sewing, card making and the piano.  She touched many lives with her cards and felt it was her way of staying in touch with friends and family and brightening their days.  We all miss her cards.

In the last couple years of Wallis’ life she battled dementia.  While residing at Garrison Place she became very fond of the “family” she chose.  There are no words to thank Sarah McPhee and her remarkable team for their unwavering care, compassion, understanding, patience and playfulness.  Wallis had so much respect and appreciation for all of you.  She had so much fun with you!
