Obituary of Joyce Matilda Stewart

Joyce passed away in her Fort Erie home after a long life. She was a loving mom, wife, grandmother, aunt, mother-in- law, and friend who had a lifelong strong belief in God and was a member of St. Michael’s Church in Fort Erie. She was beautiful inside and out. She never got angry and hated no one. She was a great listener and always had something to tell you. She prayed for everyone she knew who needed God’s help.

She was born on a dairy farm in Franklinville, New York and grew up in Buffalo, New York with her four predeceased sisters Doris Allen (Sister Mary Dolorosa, RSM), Phyllis (Tom) Riboldazzi, Norma Garguilo (Bernie) Lombard, and Grace (Tom) Brucato and was the daughter of the late Clarence and Doris (Pitcher) Allen. Widowed three times, she was predeceased by James Louis World, Leonard Weigand, and Ronald Manson Stewart. She was the loving and proud mom of Dianne (Issam) Saab and James (Sunate) World, the grandmom of Timothy World and Erika World, and aunt and grand aunt to many nieces and nephews including Linda (late Terry) Orsulak, Cindy (Randy) Reback, Susie (Bill) Schmitt, Nancy (Mark) Lauer, Christine (Rick) Cooper, Dori (Bob) Walsh, Kim (Mike) Ruffini, Tomi Garguilo, John (Pilar) Garguilo, Tom Brucato, and Robert Brucato and their children who she loved dearly. She cherished and loved Lisa Iris, Dave Kehres, and Andrea and Matt Putnam and their children.

Joyce was a graduate of Fosdick Masten high school and worked for Fantasheer as a bookkeeper. After raising her children, she worked for University at Buffalo (UB) in custodial services until her retirement.

Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Avenue, Fort Erie have been entrusted with arrangements.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will take place on Wednesday, December 4th at 12 noon at St. Michael’s Church followed by luncheon at The Barrell Restaurant, 224 Garrison Road, Fort Erie.

Burial in Acacia Park Cemetey (Formerly Resthaven Cemetery) in North Tonawanda, New York on Thursday, December 5th at 11 AM.

She was a person that was truly beautiful inside and out.

She hated no one.

She was a great listener

She always had something to tell you.

She loved everyone.

She had prayers for everyone.

She loved her religion and God

She truly believed in heaven and that her sisters talked to her from above.

We miss her so much.
