Obituary of Robert Norwood Higham
Robert Norwood Higham (Bob), age 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on September 3, 2024 in NHS – Niagara Falls. Born on May 4, 1950, Bob was the beloved husband of Lynn Higham and the proud father of three children: Robert Higham (wife Felicia Ferrusi), Ashley Haase (husband Will Haase), and Nathan Resch. He was the cherished grandfather of Jaxon, Tyson, and Vayda. He will be deeply missed by all of his extended family, and many close friends.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Roberta and Robert Higham, and survived by his brother Kenneth. Bob leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and lifelong friendships. Known for being the life of the party, Bob could always be counted on to share a good joke or captivating story. He loved to have a few beers with friends, sing along to his favorite tunes, and had an opera voice when he really got going and hit the dance floor with joy and energy that was infectious. Bob’s moon walk couldn’t be beat.
A dedicated employee at Fleet Industries for over 42 years, Bob’s work ethic was only surpassed by his love of life outside of work. He found immense joy in spending time at the family cottage in Parry Sound, especially snowmobiling in the winter months. He also had a passion for sports, particularly baseball and football. Bob loved playing baseball but he also enjoyed watching football, especially cheering on his favourite team, the Buffalo Bills. Whether on the field or watching the game, his love for sports brought him endless happiness. Not just a fan but as a player, he always enjoyed the camaraderie and competition that came with the sport. Sorry to the ones who were “unintentionally” hit by his pitch. Whether on the field or cheering from the sidelines, baseball always brought him happiness.
When not at work, playing ball for the Merchants, Shisler Brothers and the Orioles, or watching his beloved Buffalo Bills, Bob could often be found in his garage, happily spinning around in his computer chair, content with the simple pleasures of life.
The Family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Kamatovic and the dedicated doctors and staff at NHS – Niagara Falls for their compassionate care and support during Bob’s final days.
Bob’s warmth, generosity, love of music, and endless supply of stories will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. His spirit lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have been part of his life.
A private service will be held for immediate family. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Fort Erie SPCA.
