Obituary of Jean Gibbons

Gibbons: Jantje "Jean" (nee Kamphuis)

 

Born on July 19,1936 in Groningen, The Netherlands, her daughters were blessed to be by her side as she went to be with her Lord & Saviour on May 10, 2024.

 

She emigrated to Canada with her parents and siblings in 1951 where they resided in Niagara Falls. In the next few years she met and later married her sweetheart Louis Gibbons(2008) .  They welcomed 4 children, Gerald (Marian), Ikena (Jerry Burke),Vaughn and Marilyn (Glen Benner).  Their family expanded to include 17 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. 

 

She had 4 siblings Dick (Diane) Kamphuisand and Ykena as well as the late John Kamphuis, and Jane (Max) Jansen.

 

In the late 1970’s she opened Family Crafts & Yarn out of her love of hand crafts learned in childhood in the Netherlands. The shop was well loved in the community and she was known for her compassion and friendliness as well as her wealth of knowledge in any area of craft

 

She would want to be remembered first, for her deep faith in Christ and his message of salvation and secondly for the strong love for her family truly her shining jewels 

 

The story will continue on with her in our hearts and stories.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of services in the Chapel at 11 o'clock.  A light lunch will follow.  Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Niagara Falls.
