Obituary of Byron McKim

McKim: Byron

It is with heavy hearts to announce that Byron Bradley McKim passed away unexpectedly on April 12, 2024 at the age of 67.

Loving husband of Maria (nee D’Amelio) and the ever-so-proud father of Brenna McKim - his Light, his Joy.

Son of the late Murray and Muriel McKim from Dresden, Ontario.

Byron was Maria’s Renaissance man. An Independent Filmmaker and Director, Producer, Writer, Theatre director, Set designer, Actor,

Location Manager for Hollywood and Canadian TV and films. Nominated for 3 Gemini Awards, winner of 3 independent film awards.

He loved the baseball as much as he loved the film and theatre. His music tastes ranged from classical to jazz to hard core rock. Byron started painting oils on canvas and of course to all of us will be remembered as a muscle car enthusiast.  His talents were too numerous to count.

Byron was never afraid to try something new. Maria and Brenna will fondly remember him as “the little engine that could ….and DID…oh yes he did” !!

When planning a new project, which to any sane person seemed next to impossible, if asked “How are you going to do that”?  His reply would always be “I don’t know …. but I will figure it out”. And he always DID.

But out of all his accomplishments, the one most cherished by Maria and Brenna is that he was the absolute BEST DADDY-O EVER !

Byron worked at Sherkston Shores/ Sun Communities, enjoyed his with his team/colleagues. A special heartfelt thanks to Andy.

He will be sadly missed by his Italian family —Frank & Carol D’Amelio, Rocco & Diana D’Amelio, Joe & Lin D’Amelio, Margarite D’Amelio & Mark Dingley, Gerry & Sandy D’Amelio, Maria Bonito (Trail, BC). Sister Lynnette (nee McKim) & Robert Elliott (Dresden).

Lovingly remembered by his nieces & nephews: Brett, Craig, Vahn, Rebecca, Gerry (Jamie), Meghan (Andrew), John (Tia), Gabrielle , Devin, Nico, Tessa, Aless, Jack, Camryn,  Mason, Kaleb, Veronica,  Olivia, Vincent, Isabelle, Frankie. Devon Elliott & Garrett Elliott (Dresden).
