Obituary of Brenda Darlene Cloughton
It is with the greatest of pride that we send our beloved Brenda to receive her so deeply earned angel wings, knowing that heaven is welcoming her beautiful soul with the greatest of celebrations. Brenda’s wishes to spend her final moments at home with her family were made possible by the incredible expressions of love and effort from her doting husband and daughters. After more quality time and memories than we ever could have hoped for, we were blessed to be by her side as she passed away peacefully on March 15th, 2024, her spirit has always been a beacon of light through hard times, and we know she will continue to guide us as we grieve and celebrate the incredible life she has left behind.
Unless you have experienced Brenda’s laugh, it is hard to understand the depth of her joie de vie and how brightly it lit up a room. Her love extended far past its original target, often touching the hearts and souls of people she didn’t even know. Her love for people and animals has always been a staple in our family. She was truly remarkable; whether you were a president or a friendly skunk, she would welcome you with the same open arms, heart, and home.
When Wayne decided upon first sighting 46 years ago that he would spend the rest of his life loving Brenda, he had no idea how truly spectacular that commitment would be. Together they have explored the world, touching lives and leaving marks everywhere, most importantly with their loved ones who they made sure always knew they were so deeply loved and supported. Brenda was an exceptional mother to daughter(s) Lindsay and Jessica, modelling unwaveringly strength and the importance of always surrounding yourself with good people. Brenda was a Baka/Nanny to her five beautiful grandchildren Carter, Megan, Jayda, Kate, and Sean who already reflect the qualities and values inherited from her example. She was the first to offer her seat to any person (or creature) in need of befriending and always did so with enthusiasm and gratitude, and all would walk away in better space for sitting next to her. Brenda had many lifelong friendships that were deeply cherished by her and will continue to be by those who love her. We appreciate the overwhelming outpouring of love, prayers, and messages from these very kindred relationships and family. Brenda was the most courageous warrior; we will forever be in awe of her strength and positivity….and her love for Skor McFlurries!
The efforts from loved ones over these past few months have filled her with so much joy and pride and we will be forever grateful for the final moments we got to share so intimately in the exact way she wanted them to be.
A special thanks to Dr. Gangji, Cindy, Dr. Scher (best socks ever), Elizabeth, Karen, Gracelyn, Patricia, Diane, and Kelly who took such good care of her, we will be forever grateful.
And she thought Pete was okay too.
Brenda’s Celebration of Life will be held on April 30th, 2024 (her birthday) between 6pm and 8pm at the Crystal Ridge Community Center.
