Our sincere condolences on the passing of Don. Don will always be remembered for his helpful nature and kind smile. Every time I saw him, we would reminisce about getting a silver dollar from Mrs. Gage for perfect attendance. May cherished memories ease the pain during this sad and difficult time.

I was really sad to hear about Don. I lived next door to the Lubberts family back in the 50s & 60s, moved to California in 1966. As a kid I spent a lot of time playing with him and his brother Fred, always enjoyed their company. Bruce Squires

My deepest sympathy to all of Donnie's friends and family. While working for the Town of Fort Erie, Donnie would always stop by my desk on Council night and we would talk about healthcare; Donnie wanted to save the world. He was truly one of the kindest and caring people I had the pleasure of meeting. He will be missed by so many. Rest well my friend: we will carry forward your treasured missions.

Donnie, it's so hard to believe that we will no longer be able to see you and hear what you've been doing, but your incredible spirit will always be with us. In addition to spearheading our successful effort to save Bay Beach, you helped Fort Erie in so many other ways (with the Town Council, Friends of Crystal Beach, SPCA, etc.). You enjoyed solving problems and you had an uncanny ability to stick with a difficult task until you found a solution. You were so smart and you just didn't give up! In sum, you're one in a million. You were a wonderful friend and we'll miss you very much.

Will always remember the fun we had as kids, when all of the cousins would get together at your parent’s house and just cause a ruckus that would drive your Dad nuts. The best of times so long ago but never forgotten. R.I.P. Donnie, you will be missed!

Having known Donnie for so long it is with a heavy heart that we have to say goodbye to him. I remember just this past summer being at the music venues at the park and Donnie dancing away with Gail, always smiling and having a great time mingling with the crowd. May he rest in peace. God Bless

When I worked for the Town of Fort Erie for many years I remember dealing with Councillor Lubberts for many issues whether it was Property Standards or an issue with the Fire Department. What was evident to me is that he took his role seriously and cared about the constituents he represented. We should expect this of our elected officials. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Real sorry to hear of Donnie`s passing. Heart felt condolences to his family, friends and Gail. We were good buddies when we were teenagers and were friends for life. We rented a house in Crystal Beach on Erie road when life was a party. The Circus By The Sea, Hot Dog Alley, Windmill Point Quarry, Buffalo, repeat as long as the 70s lasted. Had a nice chat with him last year down at Queens circle when he was involved with one of the Friends of Crystal Beach events. A real deal community minded person. Rest in Peace Dutchman.
