Obituary of Jiguang Men
Jiguang Men was born on June 21, 1923 in Baoding, China. He passed away peacefully on December 22, 2023 in Fort Erie, Ontario after a very sudden decline in his health. Jiguang had tremendous longevity by living to the milestone age of 100 years old.
Jiguang is survived by his loving wife Lanxin Zhang, son Pei-Xian Men, daughter Pei-Wei Men, and grandchildren Benson Men, Peggy Men, and Jing Zhu among other extended family members.
Jiguang was a dedicated family doctor in China, specifically specializing in epidemic prevention treatment services where he displayed the utmost care to his patients. He performed epidemic prevention treatment work across China for many years and achieved good results. He was recognized for his exceptional work by the local government. He worked at the Wuhan No. 5 Hospital until retirement. He moved to Fort Erie, Canada in 1986, where he spent his retirement and time with his family.
He enjoyed cooking, reading the newspaper, playing Chinese chess, and drinking tea. We have visceral memories of him cooking the family his specialty dishes - stir fried tomato and eggs and green onion pancakes. His favourite snacks were salted peanuts and chocolates.
Jiguang was a calm and kindhearted man. He had a smile that was infectious and put others' needs and wishes before his own. We will always keep that memory of his smile with us. We love you, and may you rest in peace.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude towards his family doctor, Dr. Che and his staff for always assisting Jiguang in a timely manner. Additionally, we would like to thank Dr. Scher and the staff at Douglas Memorial Hospital for providing attentive care to Jiguang.
Visitation will be held at Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Ave., Fort Erie, on Monday, January 8, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 AM followed by a burial at Greenwood Cemetry.
