1932-2023
With heavy hearts, the family of Derek Joynes announce his peaceful passing on Saturday September 9th in the comfort of his own home in his 92nd year. Husband and partner to Patricia Joynes (deceased December 2022) for nearly 70 years; father to Carol Sweeton (d. George), Mark Joynes (Emma), Simon Joynes (Daniele), and Nicola Campbell (David). Grandfather to Christine, Mike, Kevin, Carla, Sarah, Heather, and Fiona; Great Grandfather to Avery, Maya, River, and Cigi. Remembered by nephew John Hardwick (Karen) and family.
A talented, and award-winning community theatre actor and director, who co-founded Garrison Little Theatre with his wife Patricia, Derek was fond of the Toronto Blue Jays, cricket, rugby, bird watching, Jazz, well-telegraphed “witty” comments, travel, and good scotch.
He will be missed.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
