Obituary of Johanna Bin

It is with great sadness that the family of Joann Bin announce her sudden passing on September 4, 2023 at her home in Fort Erie.

She was born on December 5, 1949 in Asten, the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in March 1951 with her family.  She spent her life in Fort Erie.

She leaves behind her husband Gio Batta (Joe), the center of her life, having just celebrated 52 years of marriage.

She was the loving mother and biggest supporter to her daughters Teresa and Sylvia and her son in law Geoff.

She was the devoted Nonni to and the memory maker for her granddaughters Madison and Taylor.

She will be greatly missed by her brothers and sisters Arnold Rovers (Julianne), Maria St.Laurent (Doug, deceased), Betty Spry (Bill), and Marty Rovers (Darlene).

She was predeceased by her parents Arnold and Huberta Rovers, and her brother John.

She will be greatly missed by her many cousins, nieces, and nephews from around the world.

She had many friends with whom she would spend great deals of time drinking coffee, sharing meals, and many laughs.

She was very lucky to have so many friends, and her friends were lucky to have her. She spent her career as a teacher, and dedicated many years to helping students with special education needs.

She was a member of the St. Michael’s CWL, and the Douglas Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she enjoyed working in the tuck shop.  She also enjoyed serving pasta dinners at the Italian Club.

She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know her and spend time with her.  She was our strength and our guiding light.

The family will have visiting Monday September 11 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 at BENNER FUNERAL SERVICES.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Fort Erie on Tuesday September 12, 2023 at 11 a.m.

For those that wish to donate, the family would like you to consider The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada or The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
