Obituary of John Bongers

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Father, and Papa at the age of 64 years on September 4th, 2023. He passed with the loving presence of his sons and daughter-in-law.  He was the loving husband to Donna Marie Bongers for over 42 years until she succumbed to her condition almost a year prior. He was also a wonderful father to John Jr, Gerry (Angie) and a Papa to Carter. John was diagnosed with cancer earlier in 2023 and fought rigorously especially over his last months. John’s battle was a difficult one, but it is comforting to know that he is at peace and is reunited with his lifelong best friend and wife. Our family will miss his uncanny craftsmanship, quick wit, and ability to look at any situation in a positive light. Dad had an overwhelming pride in his family and the ability both him and Mom exercised to do whatever they could to help their family.  He is survived by his brother Rick of Cambridge,

Gerry of Markstay, Angel (Mark) of Markstay along with many nieces and nephews. John is predeceased by his mother and father, Emma and Gerry Bongers.  Per John’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral.  

A cremation has taken place and a celebration of life for John’s wonderful 64 years will be planned for a later date this year. Fond memories and condolences may be shared below.
