Obituary of Beulah Rung

Beulah Lucinda Rung (Bradt)

1924-2023

On July 25th our mom, Beulah Rung, left this world to be welcomed into the arms of Jesus whom she loved and trusted. She’s finally with the love of her life Bud, after being separated from him for two years. She was a wonderful loving mother to Jo Anne Opie, Jackie (John) Moerland, Judy (Rick) Knutson, Jolene (Donnie) Hall, Budd (Carla). She taught us by love as well as by her words. Her grandchildren, Trisha (Khaled), Katie (Sam), Shelley (Dennis), Craig (Nicole), Bradley, Vanessa, Cameron (Julia), James, Nicholas, and Jeffery were a great treasure to her and great-grandchildren Matthew, Jason, Nia, Lox, Zoe, Zeke, Emily, John, Elle and Lila brought her much joy, as family was the center of her life. She is also survived by her sister Maelene, brother Ed (Lorraine) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents George and Lucinda Bradt, sisters Betty, Jean, Beatrice and Dorothy and her brother Bud.

Mom was born on Pelee Island on April 30, 1924 and came to Fort Erie in her teens to visit a cousin. While here she was offered a job at Fleet Aircraft Industries, this being where she met her husband to be Bud, fell in love and waited for him to return from the war so they could start their life together, which lasted 74 years. The Lord blessed mom with the gift of hospitality, and she used it to its fullest. The doors to her home were always opened to family, friends and anyone wanting to start a career in the area that needed a place to stay. You would always be greeted with baked goods and coffee, if not a warm meal. Our mom was a kind and strong woman and we knew we were loved by her.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Scher for the compassionate care he gave mom in her final days to keep her comfortable, to Dr. Che for the comfort and care given at her home, to Dr. Heritz whom mom trusted with the special doctoring she needed and Dr. Ventresca for her eye care over many years. Thank you to her home care nurses Cindy and Jocelyn for the concern that was always given in her home visits. Words cannot express the heartfelt gratitude we feel for the care she received at the Fort Erie Hospital in the hospice unit. The nurses and PSWs were more than special with the medical treatment and personal care given to mom to make sure she was well looked after in her final days, as were the non medical staff, caring food providers and the helpful cleaning staff that always took time to talk with mom. Thank you sincerely.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish, in Beulah’s memory, to make a contribution please consider the Garrison Road United Brethren Church.

Family and friends are invited to Benner Funeral Services on Monday July 31, 2023 from 11-1 p.m. with a service in the Chapel to Follow, and interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Fort Erie.
