Albert Tourigny

Obituary of Albert Tourigny

Tourigny, Albert “Big Al”

May 15, 1945 – June 9, 2023

Following a long battle with cancer, It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father and grandpa, Al, on Friday, June 9, 2023, at the Douglas Memorial Hospital.  He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of 58 years, Karen Tourigny.  He was the proud father of Holly (Glenn) Augerman and Dan Tourigny.  Adoring grandpa of Ryan (Emily) and her daughter Aubree, Taylor (Matt), and Maddy. He will be sadly missed by many siblings, nieces, nephews and so many close friends.

Al’s first love was his family, but his second love was playing country music. It’s where he earned his nickname ‘Big Al,’ playing guitar and being the lead vocalist with Big Al & Country and Big Al & Nitro. Many great memories were made over the years playing in the band. Additionally, his other greatest love was riding motorcycles with his friends! He rode as long as he could, even riding right up until just 2 years ago.  He also served the community as a volunteer firefighter something he took imense pride in.   We will miss his big hugs, his witty sense of humour, and yes, even his grumpiness.

Words cannot express how truly grateful we are for our Angel, Dr. Scher. His genuine compassion and empathy go beyond just his role as a Doctor, and we are forever grateful to have had you in our lives, during what was the most difficult of journeys. Thank you.

Everyone is invited to drop in as we celebrate Al's life on Friday, July 21st from 4:30-7:30 at the Fort Erie Firehall, 444 Central Avenue, Fort Erie ON.

If desired, donations in Al’s Memory can be made to March of Dimes Canada.
