Obituary of Pietrina Montana

It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother (Nonna) and great-grandmother Pietrina Montana (nee Vella) at her home in Petawawa at the age of 87, on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. She is reunited with her beloved husband Salvatore Montana (1998). She will be missed by her children Andy & Christine Montana, Susan & David Pancoe, her grandchildren Salvatore & Carla Montana, Alexandra & Kyle Melanson, Tatiana Pancoe, Victoria Pancoe and Joseph Pancoe, her great grandchildren Leonardo Montana and Reginald Montana, her sister Gerlanda & Calogero Piazza, her sister-in-law Marlene Montana, her many nieces, nephews and godchildren in Italy and Canada. She is predeceased by her parents Giuseppe and Antoinette Vella, her brother Frank and Carmela Vella, her sister Pasqualina and Giuseppe Saieva, her in-laws Andrea and Assunta Montana, Raymond & Teresa Montana, Rose & Mike Sauter, and Charles Montana. 

She was lovingly known as Nonna to many friends with whom she often shared crocheted slippers, her biscotti, peaches, and arancini. 

Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Ave, Fort Erie have been entrusted with arrangements. The family will receive friends on Sunday March 26th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Michael’s Roman Catholic Church on Monday morning at 11 o’clock. Entombment to follow at Fairview Mausoleum at 4764 Portage Rd., Niagara Falls.  Friends are welcome to attend the luncheon at the Italo Canadian Club in Fort Erie following entombment. If so desired, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by her family.
