Obituary of Phyllis Edna Sider

Sider, Phyllis Edna (nee Gilmour). (1930-2023)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Phyllis Sider at Douglas Memorial Hospital. She was affectionately known to her family as Phyllie Manillie. She is survived by and will be sadly missed by her sisters Jo Anne Renshaw(Ted) and Barbara Knapp. She is predeceased by her parents William and Margaret Gilmour, her sisters and brothers Norma Robinson, William ‘Buddy’ Gilmour, George Gilmour, John ‘Guy’ Gilmour, Helen Reinhardt and Lloyd Gilmour. Phyllis served as a member of The Rebecca’s for 50 years. She worked in retail for many years and was a complete fashionista. She wore it so well. She loved to travel, go dancing, and was a lifelong fan of harness racing. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews.

We would like to give a very special thank you to Dr. Scher and all of the staff at Douglas Memorial Hospital for their wonderful care of Phyllis. We would also like to give our sincere thanks and appreciation to the thoughtful, wonderful neighbours at Hazelwood Apartments who were like a second family to her. Another very special thank you to Jeff and all of the staff at Joes’s Independent Grocers(Valu Mart) and the staff at Brodies Drug Store. Your Kindness and assistance over the years has been greatly appreciated.
