Obituary of Richard Keith Watson
Watson, Richard Keith
March 14, 1943 - September 2, 2022
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, papa and great-grandpa. Richard went to be with the lord, in his 80th year, on September 2, 2022 at 1am, with his loving wife of 47 years, 'Shawn', by his side at the Douglas Memorial Hospital, Fort Erie. Rick was born in Rockglen, Saskatchewan on March 14, 1943.
He was the proud father of Rick (Lori), Bill (Deb), Sherry (Eddie) and Leah (Sean). He was also the proud and devoted Papa to 13 grandchildren and Great-Grand Papa to 4 great-grandsons, all of whom will miss him terribly. Rick is survived by his 3 siblings, Garry, Ron (Eileen) and Sandy, as well as his sister-in-law Janace. He is now reunited in heaven with his parents Bert and Esther, brother Daniel and sister-in-law Beryl.
Rick retired from Dofasco after 28 years of service and enjoyed his part time job at Jack Shaws for many years. He truly loved his larger than life family and was a die hard fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Music was his true passion, always having the best playlists made while driving.
The family would like to thank Dr. Scher and Elizabeth for their care when he was home, and also the palliative care team at Douglas Memorial Hospital for their compassionate and loving care they gave Rick while he was fighting his cancer.
Visitation will be held at Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Ave., Fort Erie, on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Faith Reformed Church, 3605 Black Creek Rd, Stevensville, on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
