Obituary of Alexandra Storrie Turner Murray

Murray, Alexandra S. T. "Zena" (Moore)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Zena peacefully at Douglas Memorial Hospital on August 9, 2021 at 80 years of age. Predeceased by her beloved husband Thomas Neilson Murray (2016)
Cherished Mum of Melissa Douglas (Jake).  Dear sister of Andra Moore (Carol) of Chilliwack, BC.  Predeceased by her parents, Ella and Jimmy Moore, her sisters Anne Woods (John), Ruby Webster and her brother James Moore.
She will be sadly missed by sisters-in-law Gerry Murray and June Bratton, brothers-in- law Norrie Webster and John Murray all of Scotland, many nieces and nephews, close friends and Natalie Yakimov, who was like a grandaughter to her.  Heather, Ian, Calum, Graeme and Grace of Scotland will miss her on their future adventures especially when they go to Largs.  Her pals in Amherstburg will miss her at their bingo table and on their trips to Greektown Casino.  The family pets Bisley, Breagha and Bella will miss her and their shared biscuits every morning.  Mum was born in Renton and raised in Clydebank, Scotland.  She had many tales of her early life there and I never tired of hearing them.  Mum and Dad immigrated to Canada in 1966 where they spent many years in Niagara Falls and Amherstburg with neighbours in both places that became family.  Mum loved her bingo and slot machines and she won often.  Mum was a strong woman who never backed down from a fight and was always sticking up for others.  Zena, our very own warrior princess.  A special thank you to Dr. Scher, Elizabeth and the staff at Douglas Memorial.  Fort Erie may be small and often overlooked but they have been blessed when it comes to the care available here.  Benner Funeral Services entrusted with arrangements. As per Zena's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial will be held in Scotland at a later date with a piper, a sing song and definitely a game of bingo with Grace as our caller.  In lieu of flowers, Memorial tributes may be made to an animal shelter of your choice.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.bennerfuneralservices.ca
