My sincere condolences to Mr. Catalano's children, Joel and Amanda, and family. May your memories sustain you. I attended School 45 when Mr. Catalano taught English there in the 50's and 60's. He was one of my favorite teachers. I will always remember that he advised us to keep a dictionary nearby when reading to look up any words we did not know. He was always so encouraging to me. Teachers make a difference in the lives of their students, and Mr. Catalano surely did! He attended the 45th anniversary dinner of the Class of 1962 in Buffalo, and it was a pleasure seeing him again. I will always remember him fondly. Rest in Peace Mr. Catalano.

I taught with Joe at Riverside HS in the 60s. I was impressed that he drove from Ft. Erie every day in his 54 Chevy. I saw him as the model teacher I wished to be.

Sorry to read of the passing of Joe. I met Joe and Ellen at Douglas Heights Lions Center where we played bridge. Joe and Ellen were a lovely couple with a wonderful sense of humour as well as a good bridge game. I always enjoyed any time spent with them and I know you will miss them.
Regards,
Dorrie Jones
