Obituary of Kathleen Hooper

Kathleen Hooper (nee Fairgrieve) passed away peacefully on January 2nd, 2021 at the age of 73, with her devoted husband and siblings by her side at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton. Kathleen’s valiant efforts were lost to complications of surgery. Mother of Melissa Preston and Bobby Preston and beloved gram to Lexi and Ruby. Cherished soulmate of Al Hooper for 37 years. Kath will be sadly missed by sisters Jackie Denham, Colleen Radovanovics and brothers John (Bonnie) Fairgrieve and George Fairgrieve. Additionally, Kathleen will be missed by her and Al’s large extended families, which includes nieces and nephews and close friends. Predeceased by her beloved eldest son Douglas Arthur John Preston (Dougie) in 1981, father Jock Fairgrieve 2001 and Sadie Fairgrieve 2003 and sister-in-law Kathleen Smith Fairgrieve 2009 Kathleen was a devoted wife, her and Al’s greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren Lexi and Ruby. Kathleen was employed at Underwater Gas Developers followed by a career as a real estate salesperson for Century 21 today Real Estate. Kathleen was born in Glasgow, Scotland where she lived until she immigrated to Fort Erie at the age of 6. Kathleen loved her community and had many special friends. Kath immensely enjoyed the home that she and Al made together, and the many joyful occasions spent there with family and friends over their 37 years. She and Al were avid music lovers and Kath seldom forgot a word of any song she loved from her parent’s era to her own which was the cause of many tears but also many happy and memorable moments. Kath never missed the opportunity to sing along with her mother at the piano or Al with his guitar and his band, the Ultratones . Benner Funeral Services 1105 Benner Ave. Fort Erie entrusted with arrangements. Due to Covid regulations there will be a small family service and at a later date a celebration of Kathleen’s life. The family has designated The Brain Injury Association of Fort Erie for memorial contributions if any one so wishes.
