Obituary of Gerald "Jerry" Douglas Lea

LEA, Gerald Douglas - Passed away on Saturday February 6, 2016 at Maple Park Lodge one month shy of his 101st birthday. Beloved husband of the late Rose (1975). Dear father of Jerry (the late Sharon) and the late Chuck and survived by daughter-in-law Joyce Lea. Cherished grandfather of Gary (Lina) and Shari (John) and great-grandfather of Chuck, Kali and Georgina. Brother of Connie Shaw and the late Lorna Nelson. Uncle of Karen Gates, Kirk Bremner, Carol Sauer and Lorna Piano. Born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia in 1915 and moved to Buffalo at the age of 9. He served in the Conservation Corps in Tennessee returning to Buffalo and then married in Fort Erie. He worked at Fleet Manufactoring and was custodian at Wintemute School for many years. Gerald finished his working life at Speedway Conveyors in Buffalo. He was a member of RCL Br.71 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Benner Funeral Services 1105 Benner Ave., Fort Erie entrusted with arrangements. Jerry's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday February 10th, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A service to celebrate his life will be held at the funeral home on Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment will follow at McAffee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
