Obituary of Herbert McGirr Sr

Herb passed away at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Wednesday August 13th, 2014 at the age of 72. Loving husband of Yvonne. Proud father of Kimberly (Joe) Muro, Herb McGirr Jr. and William (Meme) McGirr. Cherished grandfather of Joey, Kara, Megan and Gavin. Also survived by his sister Patricia (Guy) Girgenti and his brother Ron (Joan) McGirr, his nieces and nephews and his many friends. Herb was a proud and active member of the Fort Erie Community. He served as the Chair of the EDTC, Community Living Fort Erie and many other local organizations. Professionally, he was employed by and constantly championed the Fort Erie Racetrack and all it brought to Fort Erie and served as a member of the Ontario Racing Commission. Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Ave., Fort Erie entrusted with arrangements. A service to celebrate Herb's life will take place in the Benner Funeral Chapel on Monday August 18th at 11 am. If so desired, donations to the Kidney Foundation or the Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
