Obituary of James Berhalter

BERHALTER, James Jim passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Gilmore Lodge on Friday August 12th, 2016 at the age of 94. Predeceased by his Loving wife Beverley. Proud father of Kim (Bob Jackson) Metzger, Rick (Sharon) Berhalter, Jane Haggerty, Kerry (Andy) Berhalter-Whalen and Jim (Sunngan) Berhalter. Cherished grandfather of Sherri, Jim, Tim, Tar and Julia and great grandfather of Jennifer, Kaitlin, Emily, Rose and Stellan and Nayah and a great great grandson Hunter. Predeceased by his brother Robert, he will be sadly missed by his nieces especially Mary and his other extended family and friends. Jim was a hardworking and proud family man. He was a graduate of Niagara University and served in the United States Army during WW II He was a member of American Legion Post 264 Tonawanda NY. He will be fondly remembered as a kind, loving and gentle soul. Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Ave. Fort Erie entrusted with arrangements. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church on Monday August 15th at 11 a.m, there will be no prior visitation. Donations if so desired, to the Gilmore Lodge Resident's Council or the Fort Erie S.P.C.A. would be appreciated by the family. The family extend their heartfelt appreciation for the ongoing compassionate care provided by Dr. Che and the outstanding staff of Gilmore Lodge.
