Obituary of Adelynne Chelsea Carter
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Adelynne Chelsea Carter on February 14, 2026. Leaving us on Valentines Day seems a fitting exit for Addy as she taught us all how to love unconditionally throughout her 19 years.
Adelynne was born September 16, 2006 to Kerrie and Darrell, and was the cherished daughter of her parents Kerrie, Chris, Darrell and Terri. Ever the amazing big sister to Ellayn, Addy graciously tolerated all of Ella’s antics. Treasured little sister to Brandon and Janelle. As a much-loved niece to Kathy and Peace Kullerkupp and Doug and Darcie Carter, this could only be outshone by the love of her cousins Bailley and Alex. They feel her loss deeply and will remember Addy with the same ferocious love they showed Addy throughout her life. Addy was the much-loved granddaughter of Poppy (Tom Winger) and Grammie (Janet Dietz), and Grandma Linda. Addy is reuniting with her Nannie (Elli Winger), who will guide her in her next journey (and will probably get her into a lot of trouble).
Addys life had many obstacles that she faced with her signature stubborn sass, and that personality ensured that Addy was so very lucky to have so may people love her like she was their own. Some of the many include Holly Siprak, Tiea Rudyk, Carrie Plante, Paige Risidore, Kennedy Talarico, Kyra French, Alysha Cole, Meagan Fiander, Nurse Becky, Nurse Rini, PSW Sam, and her A.N. Myer school family.
Throughout her life, Addy received tremendous love and support from Kerrie and Darrell’s extended CBSA family, as well as Auntie’s St Catharines ER Family.
We will never be able to thank Dr. Mike Hatcher enough for the extraordinary care and guidance that he provided to Addy. He never hesitated to make sure Addy had what she needed to make her comfortable and yet never treated her like she was anything other than the amazing girl she was.
Dr. Lorraine Jensen brought comfort, compassion and vigorous advocation to our Addy. In her final days, Dr Jensen assured Addy was comfortable and at peace, while also guiding us in a journey no parent should have to take.
We would also like to thank the teams at McMaster Childrens Hospital, and Toronto Sick Kids that took such great care of Addy. We would like to specifically thank Dr. Camp, the Complex Care Team, The QOLA Care Team, and Beth and Jennifer for their guidance and compassion in Addys younger years.
Of all these amazing people in Addys life, it would be an understatement to say that Auntie Kathy was her most favourite person. In Addy’s worst moods, most severe sickness or even fast asleep, if she heard her Auntie, it was instant smiles and comfort. Auntie always knew what Addy needed and moved mountains to make sure she was well taken care of, even at the end of our journeys together.
Addys zest for life, her smile, her squeal and cheeky personality would light up any room that she entered. Some of Addys most favoured past times include music, Harry Potter, and the love of her numerous pets especially Buzz and Gilly. Addy also loved to be outside anywhere soaking up the sweet sunshine.
Addys struggles were mighty but her resilience was mightier. She overcame so many obstacles in her short 19 years. It brings us sadness that we will miss her in this world, but we hope to find joy and gratitude that she is able to find peace in the next.
We invite all to attend her funeral at Benner Funeral Home in Fort Erie on Sunday February 22, 2026. Visitation will be held between 10am to 12pm and will be immediately followed by a service to honour Adelynne. Private interment will take place at a later date with immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Tender Wishes.
