Obituary of Bonita Irene Purpura

With sorrow we announce that Bonita (Bonnie) Irene Purpura (nee Everts), passed away peacefully on February 14th at the age of 80.

She will be deeply missed by her husband of 56 years, Bart, her children, Shari (Dave), Kim, and Dan (Leanna), her grandchildren, Kassandra (Daniel), Jeremy, Sebastian, Sophia, Zidane, and Eleanor, siblings Bob, and Helen, and brother-in-law Vince (Lynda), as well as by her nieces and nephews, and their families.

Bonnie was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Eleanor, her sister Marjorie, her beloved Mother in-law Iole, sisters-in-law Angela and Linda, brother-in-law Roger, and nephew Dino.

Until recently, Bonnie was a lifelong resident of Fort Erie and member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She was a dedicated Avon representative for many years and took immense pride in being a listening, compassionate ear to family, friends, and neighbours whenever it was needed, and she always had a soft spot for furry and feathered friends alike.

The family would like to thank P.S.W. Kim, and the support teams at St. Charles Village and D.H. Rapelje Lodge for their care and support through the last few years of Bonnie’s life. Your compassion, dedication, and kindness will be forever appreciated.

The celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held at Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Avenue in Fort Erie. Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 19th, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00. Funeral service to take place on Friday, February 20th at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Snyder.  Interment will take place at a later date.

Though Bonnie is no longer with us, her kindness, love, and memories will remain. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Douglas H. Rapelje Lodge in her memory.
