Obituary of Douglas Hamilton

Richard Douglas “Doug” Hamilton, aged 90, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025. Born on August 31, 1935 - the same day as the love of his life, Yvonne Hamilton- Doug shared 63 wonderful years of marriage with her.

Doug lived most of his life in Fort Erie, Ontario, and spent his winters in Fort Myers, Florida, a place he loved dearly and where he formed many cherished friendships. He was an avid car enthusiast, with a lifelong passion for Ford Mustangs and antique cars. Doug traveled across North America attending car shows, proudly showcasing his collection and winning numerous awards.

Known for his sweet tooth and his warmth, Doug brought happiness to everyone with whom he shared an ice cream cone. He is survived by his daughters; Lynn (Mike) of Fort Erie and Maryjane (John) of Brantford, and his granddaughters Kaitlyn of Nanaimo, BC and Shannon (Ryan) and three beautiful great grandchildren of Edmonton, AB.

Doug now goes home to be with Yvonne, leaving behind a legacy of family, friendship, and a love for the open road and sunny Florida skies.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will take place at a later date. Benner Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements. Donations may be made to the Fort Erie SPCA, and would be appreciated by his family.
