Obituary of Salvatore DiVincenzo
Suddenly, at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, lovingly surrounded by his family, Salvatore DiVincenzo passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025. Beloved son of the late Stefano DiVincenzo and Vincenzina Bonadonna, Salvatore was born in Santa Elisabetta Sicily and immigrated to Canada in 1966 after months of writing heartfelt letters exchanged with his soon-to-be wife, Giuseppina (Josephine). Shortly after arriving, he married the love of his life, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted until her passing in 2012. They are now joyfully reunited. Salvatore was a proud and dedicated family man, survived by his sons Steve (Francie Saieva) and Tony DiVincenzo. He was an adored Nonno to Anthony, Brianna, Lillie, and Sammy DiVincenzo, who brought him endless pride and joy. He is lovingly remembered by his sister Giuseppina DiVincenzo-Meli; brothers- and sisters-in-law Antonietta Saieva, Joseph (Ann Marie) Tummillo, Maria (Tolmino) DiMartino, Dina (Alfonso) Annibale; and dear nephew to Gelsomino and Nina Tummillo and Maria D’Aurizio. Salvatore was predeceased by his brothers Calogero, Gaetano, and Angelo DiVincenzo; his sister Maria DiVincenzo (Catalano); and brother-in-law Domenico Meli. Salvatore was a beloved uncle to many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, and is dearly remembered by cousins and extended family in Europe. A master mason by trade, Salvatore was an expert in his craft and worked tirelessly until the very day he passed. He found joy in honest work—whether practicing his profession or tending to his garden—and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His generosity, strong work ethic, and quiet kindness defined the life he lived. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. in the Benner Chapel. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fort Erie. Donations in Salvatore’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
