We have lost a true pillar of the community, a husband, father, grandfather and a friend. One of the greatest men we have ever met. A man with an amazing gift of gab. If you were lucky enough to chat with him you were guaranteed to have had a laugh, learn a fun fact all while being offered an espresso. Tony passed surrounded by the love of his family at the St. Catharines General Hospital on December 15th, 2025 at the age of 79. Loving husband of Maria. Proud Dad to Michele, Marian (Corey) and Melissa (James) Stoddart. “Da”, as his grandchildren affectionately called him was deeply loved by Alexandra and Angelica. He will be sadly missed by his sister Maria (Santo) De Luca and is predeceased by his sister Carmelina Rainone, his parents Michele and Esterina Rainone and in laws Mario and Antonetta Gesualdi. Tony will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews in both Canada and Italy.

Tony was well known for filling bellies and warming the souls of those around him whether it was via a story, a joke or a piece of wisdom. He had a passion for food, for travel and especially for his family.

Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Ave., Fort Erie entrusted with arrangements. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1-3 and 6-8. Mass will be held on Saturday at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church at 11 am. Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
