Obituary of Jackie Yasko
Jackie passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, at the remarkable age of 99. A devoted Catholic, Jackie lived her faith with grace, kindness, and an unwavering spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She is lovingly survived by her sons, Marc (Sandra Horner) and David, her brother-in-law Bill (Francine) Yasko, and her grandchildren, Miranda (Chris) Heaton, Taryn (Jason) Scholtens, Martine Yasko (Brandon Large), Jaime Moses, Blake Barkley (David Torre), Tatyana and Jake Yasko (their loving mom Marlene), as well as thirteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many friends and extended family.
Jackie was predeceased by her parents, Aurora and John (Jack) Black, her husband Bruno (1976), her sisters Marie, Lorraine, and Pauline, her daughter-in-law Pam Yasko, and her dear friend, Barney Nelson.
Jackie lived a beautifully full life, guided by curiosity and creativity. She taught French for many years with the Welland County Roman Catholic Separate School Board. She found joy in playing the piano, painting, photography, playing cards, traveling, and golfing. Her passions brought brightness not only to her own days but also to those who shared in her adventures, stories, and laughter.
Cremation has taken place. A Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 310 Central Avenue in Fort Erie, on Friday, December 19th at 10 a.m. A celebration of life and interment will be held at a later date. Benner Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael's Church or St. Vincent de Paul, and would be appreciated by her family.
Jackie’s legacy of love, faith, humor, and resilience will continue to live on in all who knew her.
