Obituary of William Thomas Sheldon

William Thomas (Bill) Sheldon passed away peacefully November 27, 2025 in his 88th year at Greater Niagara General Hospital. Beloved husband and devoted partner of Jane Sheldon for 66 years, many spent in the family home in Fort Erie, Ontario.

Papa will be dearly missed by his children Bill (Georgina), Terry (Kevin), Kathy (Terry), Jeff (Darlene), Richard, grandchildren Katlyn (Dave), Taylor, Kris, Josh, Alyssa (Joe), Trevor (Jessica), Spencer (Melissa), Mallory (Adam) and great grandchildren Evelyn, Lila, Chevy, Jesse, Gavin, Owen.

Bill was predeceased by parents Tom and Nancy, brother Bert (Lois), sisters Margaret (Bud), Evelyn (Lorne), In laws Bill and Ethel Bews, brother in law Ted, sister in laws (Evelyn (Fred), Betty (Cliff).

Survived by brother in law Bill (Rosemary) as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bill 'Shelly' had a lifelong passion for racing and began his dirt track racing career on local ovals in 1958. He enjoyed building his own cars and had much success, capturing multiple feature wins over five consecutive decades.

The family thanks the staff at Greater Niagara General Hospital for their outstanding care and support.

In keeping with Bill’s wishes there will be no service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Princess Margaret or McMaster Hospital, and would be appreciated by his family. Benner Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
